Come By Meatpacking District - Day or Night!
Described by some as fashion meets finance, Meatpacking is money. From rooftop bars frequented by models to luxury lofts occupied by hedge fund bros, this neighborhood belongs to the 1%; or does it?
The Meatpacking District acquired its name for the obvious reason; in 1900, it was home to 250 slaughterhouses and packing plants! One century after, however, Meatpacking has emerged as Manhattan’s most glamorous neighborhood. With its outdoor cafe culture, car-free cobblestone streets, and trendy boutiques, Meatpacking has plenty to offer.
Our favorite coffee shops in Meatpacking:
Intelligentsia: Order from the bar inside the High Line Hotel or at the red truck in the front garden - 180 10th Avenue
Kobrick Coffee: 24 9th Avenue
Starbucks Reserve: Opened in December 2018, this roastery is a sight to behold - 61 9th Avenue
A few things to do/see in Meatpacking:
Whitney Museum: One of the most popular museums in the city. Don’t forget to go outside and enjoy the view from above - 99 Gansevoort Street
High Line Park: Repurposed from an abandoned railway, this long and winding garden hosts nearly 10 million visitors per year, because there is nothing else like it!
Chelsea Market: Constructed in the 1890s and was originally the site of the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) factory complex where the Oreo cookie was invented and produced, Chelsea Market today is a popular venue for food, shopping, and office space. In 2018, Google bought Chelsea Market for more than $2.5 billion! Try LOS TACOS No 1 (if you don’t mind waiting in line), Num Pang, or Ayada.
Cookshop: for a proper brunch, among a mostly young crowd - 156 10th Avenue
